Ant eggs

After mating, the winged queen become fertilized queen and is ready to start her own colony.

She will have to find a suitable nesting site, here she will lay the first tiny eggs.

She survives only off the fat already in her body and the moisture around her. She may eat her own wings as a source of protein.

She will not leave her nest until the first born workers ‘nantics‘ are able to forage for food.

In mature ant colonies, queens can lay thousand of eggs each day!

Unfertilized eggs grow into male drone ants.
