Overview
These are the terms and conditions that apply to all users of www.antARK.net (“the Site”).

Since we can’t sit down with all of you to get signatures etc, your use of our website tells us you agree to these terms and conditions.

antARK is an online open-content collaborative introduction to myrmecology. See ‘about’.

Although antARK strives to provide free accurate and reliable information, it cannot guarantee the accuracy or reliability of any content found within the Site, or external websites linked through the Site. And so any information, guides etc. you choose to follow or use is done so at your own risk.

Whilst effort has been taken to ensure that the Site is free from viruses, antARK gives no guarantee that it is free from viruses or other malicious software. You are responsible for ensuring that you have installed adequate anti virus software.

Sometimes we need to update or revise these terms and conditions. If you keep using the website after the Last Updated date (bottom of this page), you’re saying that you agree to have the updated or revised terms and conditions apply.

These terms and conditions apply to the entire contents of the website under the domain name www.antARK.net, to any correspondence between you and us and to any news feeds or downloads, downloaded by you from, or sent to you by, the Site.

Content and use of content

Imagery

To the best of our knowledge, the original owners of all images were asked if their imagery can be included on the Site. This does not include images uploaded to the Site via the ‘upload image’ buttons.

All images used in this site are subject to the copyright license chosen by the original owners. Therefore no images may be used without prior permission from the original owners. All images not owned by or purchased by antARK are referenced to their original owner under each image. On most images, you can contact the original owner by clicking on their name.

It is highly likely that you will receive permission to use the images as long as:

they are not used in a commercial nature, you credit the owner and you have received the owners permission

The same goes for any images that belong to antARK (any un-referenced images). We do not want our images or content to be used for any commercial nature. To use any antARK images or content you must have our permission and attribute your findings to www.antARK.net

Videos

We do not host or own any of the video content embedded within the Site. Any videos seen through the Site are hosted by public video sharing sites such as www.youtube.com and www.vimeo.com. The owner of any videos is the uploader to these sites, and thus they are responsible for copyrights involved. If you feel we have used your video inappropriately, please get in-touch.

Wording
To the best of our knowledge no un-referenced wording found in the Site has been directly copied from any publications or other sites.

Quotes and sentences found within the Site that are not originally produced by us have been referenced to the original author.

Wording directly copied from this site must be cited/referenced to the original owner or otherwise ‘www.antark.net’ .

The ‘Comments’ sections found on some pages within the Site, are there to help improve or add to the content of the site, please contribute appropriately.

Uploading your own ant images

Who can share images?

Anyone that has a camera, some ants nearby and wants to share their images with others.

What should I share?

Please upload images of your ants in .jpg format, images should be no larger than 1mb and under 700 pixels width or height. Look at the current images to get an idea of what we are looking for. You can include your name, a link to your site/portfolio and notes about the image.

Where and when will my image appear?

Once we have confirmed your image is to a suitable standard and complies to the rules and is under the correct category, we will add a thumb nail to the image carousel on the appropriate page for all to view. Images may also be used in non commercial educational publications, a © symbol on the image owners name will be present.

How do I delete/rename/edit my image?

If for any reason you want to delete, rename or edit your image please contact us with your name and request, the image number and page its found on.

Who owns the images I upload?

The original owner of the image continues to own any rights to the image; uploading your image to www.antARK.net does not transfer ownership.

You may not use the Site:
to create a database (electronic or otherwise) that includes material downloaded or otherwise obtained from the Site, without written permission from antARK.

to transmit or re-circulate any material obtained from the Site to any third party, without written permission from antARK.

in such a way so as to remove the copyright from any copies of any material made in accordance with these terms, or in any way that might bring antARK into disrepute.

You must be at least 18 years of age or be accessing the Site with the full consent of a parent or guardian.
